Ever since its beginnings in 2008, Anchor Green Primary School has envisioned itself to be a community of aspiring and gracious learners, a school where pupils aspire to be the best they can be; where they grow and learn together and then serve by paying it forward to others around them and to the community. In AGPS we believe that every child wants to learn and has the potential to learn and develop to his or her potential. We also believe that every child learns better in a happy and nurturing environment and that every child can be taught good values and habits as well as achieve all round development. It is based on these beliefs that the school takes on a student-centred approach in providing learning experiences and opportunities that ensures the development of our pupils across the four AGPS (Aesthetics, coGnitive, Physical and Socio-moral emotional) domains, nurturing them to be self-directed learners, gracious citizens and active contributors.
Our AGPS staff are committed to ensure the engaged learning of our pupils and seeks to nurture talents in our pupils, develop their character with emphasis on the school values of R.I.C.E. (Respect, Integrity, Confidence and Excellence) and grooming our pupils to be leaders who are caring and gracious. To this end, AGPS staff continuously upgrade themselves professionally to be better equipped to meet the needs of our pupils.
Anchor Green Primary School has in place two distinctive programmes. The first, our ELEA (Empowering Learners to be Environmental Activists) Programme is our Applied Learning Programme that not only seeks to inculcate in our pupils the knowledge, skills and attitude towards environmental sustainability in their daily actions but also gives emphasis on connecting classroom learning with real-life applications and encouraging pupils to creatively apply concepts to solve authentic problems. It focuses on evoking curiosity in learning, developing inventive thinking and encouraging a dare-to-try spirit. Our second distinctive programme is A.G.P.S Arts (Aspire, Grow Passion, Serve through the Arts). Besides anchoring on engaging Art & Music instructional programmes and PAL programmes, and ensuring curriculum time for General Art and Music Programmes, AGPS also offers engaging and enriched Performing Arts and Visual Arts co-curricular programmes to all our pupils. The school will continue to provide our pupils with opportunities to develop 21st Century Competencies through our AGPS Experience, in particular through our ELEA and A.G.P.S Arts Programmes, exposing them to a wide range of experiences to build their social emotional competencies, acquire sound values, as well as demonstrate important life-skills.
We, in AGPS, believe in and appreciate the importance of a close and collaborative partnership with our stakeholders namely our SAC members, parents and external organisations in providing our pupils opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Henry Ford once said, ‘Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together is success’. I am confident that through the sustainable, purposeful and collaborative efforts from everyone, our AGPS pupil will shine, ready to contribute and serve society in one way or another.
