K2 Interview with the Doctor
Most children have interactions with their family doctors only when they fall sick. This time, the K2 children had their first-hand experience to interview a doctor, Dr Colin Low (Pancare Medical Clinc Hougang) face-to-face to find out how the different organs in their bodies function. They were excited, with some posing more than one question for the doctor. |
Not only did the children learn about the functions of their body organs, but some brave ones also had the opportunity to practise interviewing someone. |
Our Centre Head, Ms Winnie presented the certificate of appreciation to Dr Colin to thank him for his support in educating our children. | Overall, it was an interesting experience for the K2 children! |
Chinese New Year Celebration
The children gathered to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY) and the theme is celebrating CNY the Singapore way. They learnt that besides the traditions of spring cleaning, putting decorations and home visiting, there is also 守岁 (Shou Sui), where children stay up as late as possible for their parents' longevity. They also had their first-hand experience of 菜青 (Cai Qing), a special performance put up by the teachers, which sent them into screams and shrieks of excitement! |
After the performance, the children enjoyed the food tasting of Yu Sheng and fortune cookies. Some even asked teachers for help to read out the well wishes found in their fortune cookies! |
The children found out that there is a small note of well wishes in the fortune cookie. Some even asked teachers for help to read out the well wishes found in their fortune cookies! |
The children also got hands-on experience making their bags to hold the mandarin oranges. Together with the cards they prepared beforehand, they then exchanged them with their friends! |
K1 Tea Session
As part of our efforts to strengthen our relationships with our K1 parents, the K1 teachers organised a tea session to find out the needs and concerns of our parents. At the same time, parents had the opportunity to learn more about how they could better support their children.
During the sharing session, parents and children enjoyed some snacks while we discussed the feedback from our parents. | We are thankful to parents who shared their experiences of engaging their children using MK’s family-based activities and how they spent quality time with each other. |
The session ended off with everyone creating their own sensory bottles to bring home. We all learnt a new way of calming ourselves down when we experience big feelings! |

MK@AG Start Small Dream Big Community Project: “Stamp Out Dengue!”
As part of the Start Small Dream Big initiative by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), the children participated in our community project – Stamp Out Dengue! This project aims to teach children about preventing mosquito breeding while instilling a sense of responsibility toward the environment. The National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore was invited to conduct a talk on mosquito breeding, its dangers, and effective prevention methods. |
Additionally, the children learned specifically about Aedes mosquitoes, discovering that only the females transmit diseases. They observed mosquito eggs and nymphs up close and even explored whether male mosquitoes would bite by placing their hands in a controlled observation box.
Building on their newfound understanding, the children created Stamp Out Dengue posters to remind the community to take an active role in preventing mosquito breeding. Selected posters were printed as leaflets, and the children, accompanied by their parents and teachers, distributed them throughout the neighborhood. They reached out to the community by delivering leaflets to homes and public spaces such as coffee shops and provision stores. |
Everyone had a great time contributing to the cause and playing an active role in advocating for dengue prevention! |

K2 Nature Exploration at the Imbiah Trail, Sentosa
Aligned with their Hi-Light lessons on Precious Rainforests, K2 children embarked on a guided walking trail at Imbiah Trail, Sentosa, to learn and observe the diverse flora and fauna in a rainforest. During the walk, they spotted animals such as a hornbill, squirrels and various insects. |
They also learnt about some of the trees they saw, such as the Nibong Palm that has black spikes on its trunk and the Tempinis tree, which gave the town its name, Tampines, due to its abundance in the area in the past. |
Children also observed the various sculptures along the trail such as the Rock Dragon Waterfall and the Dinosaur Skeleton. They had fun pretending to be eaten by the dinosaur! |
After the trail, the guide led a discussion with the children about the importance of rainforests. The children also participated in an activity using items the guide had collected along the trail, determining whether they could be recycled. This reinforced the importance of the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). |
The children thoroughly enjoyed their walking trail! Although they did not spot the native Oriental Magpie during the walk, their teachers shared information and the children engaged in a colouring activity of the bird to reflect their learning. |

No one zebra has the same pattern, just like our fingerprints. | Do you know that a giraffe’s tongue is as long as the length of your arm? |
The children stretched their arms like the giraffe’s tongue and bent down to pretend eating like a giraffe! | What an exhausting day! We walked so much but we had so much fun! |
