P3 SwimSafer Programme

In AGPS, swimming has been incorporated into our P3 PE Curriculum and is carried out during PE lessons.  Swimming, as in all other PE learning areas (such as athletics, dance, sports and games, gymnastics and outdoor education), is a vital piece of the PE Curriculum, requiring all pupils to be involved (except those who are medically exempted from PE). Swimming is also reflected as a key component in the allocation of learning areas for each level based on planning norms by MOE's Curriculum Policy Office.

The objectives of the Swimming Programme are as follows:

  •  to equip our pupils with the knowledge on water safety (Non-swimmer)
  • refine technical and competitive skills (e.g. starts, plunge, turns etc.) for pupils with stage 6 (advance swimmers)
  • to inculcate in our pupils the values of resilience and perseverance in learning a new skill
  • to teach them basic / intermediate swimming skills (Non-swimmer and beginner/intermediate swimmer)
  • to provide a platform for pupils to bond with their fellow classmates.
